Data Center Facilities

Elephant Outlook provides managed services from our state-of-the-art data center facilities in Winter Haven, Florida. We are positioned at the center of Florida's business universe on the I-4 Corridor, 25 miles east of Tampa, and 35 miles west of Orlando. Elephant Outlook is located in one of the most fiber rich routes in the United States connecting major cities and International gateways.

In addition to stringent facility requirements, the data center facilities are designed and constructed to eliminate or minimize risk wherever possible. For example, the facilities are housed within a wholly owned, stand-alone structure that is isolated from any neighboring buildings on campus.

The data center facilities are housed in six-sided vault built walls of 6-inch thick, steel-reinforced concrete. This vault construction has 1.25G force of lateral resistance, which means it can withstand Richter Scale 9 earthquakes. The buildings also meets US Department of Defense security specifications for government classified data.

The data center facilities house dual transformers, redundant loop fed, power feeds from TECO Energy, a S&P 500 energy company headquartered in Tampa, Florida.

Elephant Outlook’s power infrastructure distributes the duel feeds into two separate power bus grids that provide monitoring and automatic transfer from utility to standby generators to guarantee maximum uptime. Generator fuel capacity exceeds 96 hours with guarantees of 2-hour fuel delivery contracts.

All power buses are protected from surge suppression by a sophisticated parallel system of computer matched, custom metal-oxide varistor (MOV) arrays for high voltage clamping.

Each power bus feeds independent Liebert UPS systems which are distributed directly to each duel Power Distribution Units (PDUs) located directly inside each cabinet.

The facilities are built completely on computer-grade raised flooring to provide hot and cold isle distribution of air flow across each cabinet.

Elephant Outlook has deployed dual N+1 redundant Liebert Computer Room Air Conditioners to provide precision temperature, humidity, particle filtration, and maximum air-flow within the facilities. The systems maintain a constant 72 degree ambient air temperature ( +2/-2 degrees) and a constant 45% humidity (+5% /-5%).

Additionally, each of these units is equipped with dual blower assemblies, ensuring that a mechanical failure does not disable the entire unit. The Liebert systems are an industry standard, and provide the maximum precision in temperature and humidity control.

Elephant Outlook has deployed environmental monitoring and rotation systems in separate zones within the facilities to exercise and rotate equipment, along with monitoring temperature, humidity, airflow, and dew point. These systems provide both alarm/alert functionality in the case of a failure, as well as long term trending data to help Elephant Outlook ensure that the facilities remains a stable, clean, and environmentally optimized computing facility.

Elephant Outlook also incorporates a VESDA™ (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) aspirated smoke detection which is capable of detecting the microscopic particles of combustion. The aspirating smoke detectors work by drawing air in through a network of small-bore pipes across sensitive lasers tuned to detect the extremely small particles of combustion. The VESDA detection is integrated into the monitoring and environmental safety systems.

Finally, Elephant Outlook utilizes a fire suppression regime to contain electrical or other fires within the facilities. Using FM-200, a residue-free, electronics-friendly fire suppressant that effectively starves the flames of required oxygen to prevent continued burning.

To ensure that equipment is physically secure, Elephant Outlook has deployed multiple systems for authentication, identification, and authorization. Public access is strictly forbidden. Access to the datacenters is completely restricted.

Video camera feeds are monitored and recorded throughout the facilities . The exterior of the facility is also monitored with fully actuated units with night vision capability allowing Elephant Outlook to monitor entryways, parking areas, and standby generators.
